IF FADED splendour is your thing then Walford on Shrewsbury Road, Dublin 4 isn’t the only substantial period house cum fixer-upper on the market at the moment.
Another one – at a more affordable price (its AMV is over €14 million less than Walford’s price ) – is Prince Patrick on Knocknacree Road in Dalkey, Co Dublin, a substantial house off Sorrento Road with a reserve of €875,000.
As well as being 370sq m (4,000 sq ft) with plenty of stately looking reception rooms and stunning sea views it comes with the bonus of a two-bed bungalow on its 0.4 acre grounds. Who’d have thought that anything this big and this close to Sorrento Road would have a guide price of less than €1 million but it just shows how the credit crunch has affected the market for property that needs work.
Lisney sold the house last October for €980,000 in the auction room, but the new owners have been renting in town and have decided they would now prefer to stay there. So the property goes under the hammer again on October 12th
