Describe the house

A one-bedroom cottage that has been completely renovated and decorated during the past three years.

The open-plan living and diningroom is spacious and bright and has a beautiful cast-iron fireplace.

There is a large walk-in wardrobe on the ground floor that could easily be transformed into a study. A modern shower room with mosaic tiling completes the ground floor.

Upstairs is a double bedroom with generous under-eaves storage. It is a very warm and cosy house that's full of character.

Outside there is a private, enclosed courtyard to the rear.

Why are you moving?

Right now, I don't know why! This was my first home and I love it, and the area, but now feels like the right time to get onto step number two of the property ladder. I do hope to stay in the area and find a larger property that's ready for a makeover.

What's the best thing about it?

The location is really fantastic. Within 15 minutes walk of O'Connell Street, the IFSC and Eastpoint Business Park.

It is also very convenient for public transport. Several bus routes pass near the end of the street. Connolly Dart station and the Luas are just a 10-minute walk from the front door.

And the neighbourhood?

North Strand has developed a bohemian atmosphere in recent years.

It is popular with young professionals who want to be near the city centre but who like the sense of community the area still retains. The cottage's location is very quaint, especially in summer when flowers appear on doorsteps, window sills and in hanging baskets.

It is within easy walking distance of both Fairview Park and Dollymount Strand - perfect for evening walks.

The fabulous new deli on Fairview Strand, Kennedy's, is the ideal spot for weekend brunch - when breakfast is served late and the home-made brownies are irresistible! Everything else you could need is on the doorstep from convenience stores to pubs and restaurants.

Who would like to live in your home?

A young first-time buyer or couple. Someone seeking a home that's convenient to the city centre and just ready to walk into.
