HOUSEHUNTERS seeking a Connemara bolthole could start their search this weekend at Plover Cottage, a quaint thatched house near Dolan beach, between Roundstone and Ballyconneely.

Priced at €310,000 through Clifden-based Sherry FitzGerald Kavanagh, the two-bedroom cottage stands on an acre of land within strolling distance of the sea. It will be on view on Easter Saturday from 2pm to 3pm.

It’s tiny at 65sq m (700sq ft) but there is some potential in an adjacent stone building that could be converted to further accommodation subject to the necessary planning permission.

The cottage has retained its character with a half door, large stone fireplace and thatched roof. On entering the cottage there is a real sense of tradition and history. The livingroom forms the centre from which there are two attic bedrooms, a kitchen/dining area and bathroom.
