PUBLISHER Kevin Kelly is set for a windfall when the contents of his house at 24 Fitzwilliam Square are auctioned on June 21st.
Around 600 lots of antiques, fine art, mirrors, porcelain, silver and other high class bric-a-brac will be disposed of by Adams in it salerooms on St Stephens Green.
However, viewings will be in the house in the run up to sale and Adams is expecting a crowd. It’s a chance to see some of the most beautiful rooms in the city, before the Kellys’ collection is broken up. Mr Kelly, who founded World of Interiors magazine, which he then sold to Conde Nast , and his wife Rose, have famously good taste and the house is kitted out to perfection.
The Kellys are moving to a smaller place, but while the funiture is likely to sell like hot cakes the house is another matter.
It has been on the market for three years, the price dropping from around €10 million to €4.75 million.
In fact a sale had been agreed but fell through at the 11th hour, after Mr Kelly had finalised plans to sell the contents.
