ShoparoundAga aficionados will be delighted to hear of the addition of a new colour to the Aga colour range. Now the race is on to see who will be the first in Ireland to install the chocolate-brown Aga in their kitchen.
The chocolate-brown colour, which is available in two-, three- and four-oven models, is the latest addition to Aga's signature collection of designer colours. This range comprises aubergine, pistachio, wedgewood blue, jade green, golden-yellow and classic white.
While the standard Aga colours - black, cream, claret, pewter, British racing green, dark blue and royal blue - are by far the most popular, around 10 per cent of buyers dare to be different and are prepared to pay the €575-€800 premium to have something a little more unusual.
Indeed, colour choice is something that all Aga shoppers spend lots of time on, according to Deirdre Stapleton from Campbell & Cooke's showrooms in Dún Laoghaire.
"Choosing a colour is a huge deal. People bring in doors of kitchen units and tiles to match everything up and we often have couples arguing over the colour choice in the showrooms. He wants something wild like racing green, and she wants something safe like cream."
Cream is most popular, followed by black and pewter in the standard range of colours. Wedgewood blue and aubergine, which looks great with stainless steel surfaces, are the most popular from the signature collection. People in the market for a really traditional look can opt for the classic cream Aga, which is based on the old-style Aga complete with antique-style dials and cream enamel lids instead of stainless steel lids. This costs an additional €950.
Meanwhile, there is good news for Aga wannabes who are not on mains gas and don't want the hassle of building a chimney for oil, as a new three-oven electric cooker is now on the market. Prices start at €11,875.
