Irish investors have already expressed a lot of interest in properties in a resort to be built on the island of Santiago in Cape Verde, according to Charles Weston-Baker, head of Savills International.

HOK International and Savills are offering apartments, townhouses and villas in Ponta Bicuda at an exhibition in the Westbury Hotel in Dublin tomorrow and Saturday.

The properties, ranging in price from €75,000 to €1.6 million, will be located on an 170-acre peninsula close to Praia, the capital of this Cape Verdean island. It is about an hour's flight from the main international airport on the island of Sal.

Direct weekly flights from Gatwick to Sal started two weeks ago.
