CO DUBLIN €1.65mThe artist John Short, who is best known for his colourful Sandycove bathing scenes, is selling his house not too far from the beach. Number 7 Lower Albert Road in Sandycove, Co Dublin, is on the market at €1.65 million through Lisney.

The three-bedroom 1940s house has around 166sq m (1,785sq ft) of living space, but the surprise is the big glass box in the garden which is used as a studio.

Short and his wife Helen, also an artist, have upgraded the house and are leaving it with their own tasteful, creative touch. This isn't a house that's been "done" to within an inch of its life: nothing has been overdone and the original bones of the house shine through.

It is at the FitzGerald's pub end of Albert Road. Glenageary Dart station is just around the corner from the other end of the road.

While there is no off street parking at present, it may be possible to create a space if new owners are willing to sacrifice the small front garden.

There is rear access via a laneway that runs behind the house.

Inside, there are two reception rooms off the hall. At the moment, one is used as a livingroom, the other as a study. At the back of the house is the kitchen and dining area.

This has been fitted with attractive pale blue units and although not large, is bright and airy. Doors open to the garden: this is landscaped to a high standard with decorative fencing on both sides and mature planting.

The timber-clad and glass studio was bought from a UK company who built it on site in five days. It has floor-to-ceiling glass windows on two sides and a shower room inside. It also houses a utility room.

Back in the main house, the largest bedroom on the first floor has stairs rising up to the attic conversion. This has roof windows with great views and is used by Helen Short as her studio.
