The last eight upper-floor apartments in the country's tallest apartment tower are to be released on to the market this week by selling agents Hooke & MacDonald. The 16-storey Millennium Tower is part of the Charlotte Quay Dock development at Ringsend, Dublin 4.

Situated as it is at the mouth of the River Liffey, the development commands sweeping views which take in the bay from Howth to Dun Laoghaire, the Sugar Loaf Mountains and interesting perspectives of the city itself.

The Zoe-built development on Canal Dock, which has taken almost four years to complete, was designed by architects O'Mahony and has the Ocean restaurant at ground/water level. The 15/16th-storey penthouse in the Millennium Tower was sold during the year to a Dublin family for about £2 million (2.54m). Prices for the just-released apartments range from £670,000 (850,720) for a two-bed800 sq ft apartment on the eighth floor. A similar two-bed apartment on the 13th floor costs £395,000 (501,550).

Prices for the three-bed apartments begin at £350,000 (444,410) for a 1,000 sq ft unit on the eighth floor. Altogether there are two three-bed and five two-bed apartments, and one duplex penthouse for sale.

The Millennium Tower is one of three apartment buildings in the Charlotte Quay Dock development. Between them, the other two buildings house 194 apartments, of which just a few remain to be sold. The Millennium Tower has 48 two and three-bed apartments and penthouses, all of which have balconies. The style is minimalist with, obviously, a great deal of glass - so as to take advantage of the views.

The two reception rooms in the duplex penthouse take up most of its 1,400 sq ft of space. The livingroom alone is an open, undivided 600 sq ft room, with glass walls and some 300 sq ft of private sun terrace. It is reached via a glass-enclosed spiral staircase which further enhances the impression of "nesting" over the city.

The spectacular views also take in the nearby crater that is the beginnings of the Docklands Development. The kitchendiningroom comprises over 500 sq ft - the kitchen itself is a compact working area off the main room, in which the built-in units have brushed steel handles. One of the bedrooms has a door on to a terrace and both have built-in wardrobes. Sanitary facilities consist of one family bathroom with toilet, shower fitting and wash-hand basin.

The two-bed apartment on the eighth floor has a compact, functional kitchen off the living/dining area and gives the impression of being right over the Grand Canal. The three-bed apartment on the same floor has an en suite main bedroom. The family bathroom has a bath with shower fitting, wash-hand basin and toilet. Two of the three bedrooms have door/windows which open on to a terrace and all have built-in wardrobes. The living area is bright with windows on two sides and a small kitchen off.
