One of the last development opportunities to go for sale with direct frontage on to Smithfield Square in Dublin is to be sold by tender next month. Stephen Cassidy of Hamilton Osborne King is quoting in the region of £4.5 million (€5.7m) for the retail premises owned by Tullys Tiles at 1/6 Haymarket which which covers an area of .16 of an acre and has frontage on to Haymarket, Smithfieldf and Burgess Lane. The site will probably be used for a high density development. The Luas light rail line will have a stop nearby.

The city planners recently granted planning permission for a 600,000 sq ft scheme on the opposite side of Smithfield. It will include a mixture of offices and apartments. Smithfield has undergone a dramatic transformation since the redevelopment of the former Jameson distillery site.
