Stylish kettles that sit well with expensively designed kitchens aren’t easy to find, but this Russell Hobbs glass one (left) ticks all the boxes. It comes in black as well as clear glass, and the glass range also includes coffee makers, a panini press and toasters, including this Swarovski crystal embellished model (below left), from a limited edition of 1,000. Both are available in House of Fraser, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14. The kettles cost €105 and the toaster is a staggering €212 (€85 without the bling!).

However if you’re shopping north of the Border, you could make substantial savings. The Russell Hobbs website’s online prices are £59.99 for the kettle; £149.99 for the crystal embellished toaster and £39.99 for the plain glass one. Why are we being asked to pay so much more?
