An imaginative young boy takes a flight of fantasy to the moon in this stage adaptation of Oliver Jeffers’ picture-book. Jeffers’ distinctive stripy-jumpered protagonist is rendered through exquisite puppetry, and we meet him beached on an island, embroiled in a battle with his bed, before following his journey into space. This is a non-verbal, fairly abstract performance and it would help for young audiences to be familiar with the book beforehand.

If you haven’t seen Hannah Brown’s work, grab the chance. Her small, meticulously realist paintings of Victoria Park in East London, a landscape she encountered almost every day for eight years, are compelling. While you are there, have coffee in the Cross Café and check out Tom O’Dea’s exceptional sculptures showing downstairs in Nag.
