Whoa, there! Is this bunch of Liverpool la's still around? Seems so, and why ever not – they remain one of the best post-punk bands still plying its trade. Not only that, but some recent albums from remaining members Ian McCulloch (right) and Will Sergeant – try 2014's Meteorites – contain high- quality odd psych-pop that matches their classic early-mid 1980s heyday. Bring on the dancing horses, we say.

There are few enough music acts out there that can channel the dual spirits of Iggy Pop and Pete Seeger, but Ed Hammell is one such. The Detroiter is an acoustic guitar-bashing anti-folk kinda guy.
