Wexford Arts Centre 8.30 €12/€10 wexfordartscentre.ie Also Sat, Kilkenny; Thurs, Cork

Cavan singer-songwriter Lisa O’Neill has been quiet of late – she’s been too busy beavering away on songs for her forthcoming album to be making regular gig appearances. These shows, then, are must-sees, as she’ll be previewing a few new songs as well as delving into her back catalogue. Special guests are Seamus Fogarty and Emma Smith.

ELECTRONIC

Si Schroeder

Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Cork 8pm €12 siriusartscentre.ie Also Sun, Cork

Si Schroeder (aka Simon Kenny) is one of Ireland's most under- appreciated electronic musicians, and his forays into live work are extremely rare. Yet here he is, taking a break from completing his new album, Holding Patterns, which will, hopefully, be released later this year. Special guests are Second Moon of Winter, a Myrtleville- based experimental unit that blends ambiguous ambient, free jazz and contemporary classical.

TRAD

Tunes In The Church

St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church 8pm €15 tunesinthechurch.com

With four sessions this week, starting with tonight’s pairing of Mayo box player Fiachna Ó Mongáin and Chicago fiddler Jessica Ziegler, this summer concert series draws towards a close at the end of the month with some nifty collaborations. The intimacy of the music, in the surprisingly welcoming gabháil of this ecclesiastical setting, offers a real summer treat in the dying evenings of August.

HIP-HOP

Jungle Brothers

Sugar Club Dublin 8pm €15

Of course, you know the Jungle Brothers (below). A key act in the evolution of hip-hop in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Native Tongues' crew were behind such finely tuned albums as Straight Out the Jungle (1988) and Down By the Forces of Nature (1989). Besides a live set from the group, there's also a club night afterwards featuring tunes from that golden era of hip-hop.

TECHNO

Club Sessions

The Basement, Waterford 10pm €7

Club Sessions return to action in the basement of Revolution with a return visit from Gary Wynne AKA Re.Move. The boss-man at new-ish Liverpool label Illiterate Music, Wynne has won favour with his deep, dubby techno, and it will be interesting to see what his label does in the future with acts like Mollina and Townley. Support on the night from Will Power and Ben Walsh. JC
