Thom Yorke enlists Flea

Radiohead's Thom Yorke has announced plans to form a supergroup to recreate his 2007 solo album The Eraserlive. In a move that surprised many, however, he has enlisted Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea as part of the as-yet-unnamed band. Other members include Brazilian musician Mauro Refosco and producers Joey Waronker (Eels, Lisa Germano) and Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, U2, Air).

It is the second side-project that Godrich has taken on recently. He has just finished recording an album with Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey of Supergrass under the moniker The Hot Rats.

Yorke's project, however, will debut in Los Angeles this weekend with two shows at the city's Orpheum Theatre. Although the singer and guitarist has performed songs from The Eraserin a solo capacity in the past, he has never recreated the whole album live.

The band will also play new material – possibly including Yorke's new song Hearing Damage, which he wrote for the new Twilightfilm – although it's unclear whether the other members will have any input into the creative process.
