The Delmarva Chicken of Tomorrow & Nightcleaners
Millennium Arts Centre, Portadown, Co Antrim Until Jan 10
millenniumcourt.org
Two experimental films in a season of politically engaged art. The Berwick Street Collective's Nightcleaners (right) is a 1975 documentary on the efforts to unionise underpaid and victimised female workers in London. Andrea Luka Zimmerman's The Delmarva Chicken of Tomorrow is a more freewheeling, dreamlike meditation on "production, resources, capitalism, globalisation, refuse and refusal".

Céilí just got another shot in the arm with the Kilfenora’s decision to invite Kevin Crawford, Lúnasa’s charismatic flute player and bodhrán master, to produce their forthcoming album. Kilfenora has shaken up dancers and tune lovers at home and away, so expect much muscle and lots of hair-pin bends at this early new year concert.
House
Levon Vincent
Twisted Pepper, Dublin 11pm €15/€13
Levon Vincent’s take on house is exquisite. It’s all in the details when it comes to tracks that the New York-born, Berlin-based producer has forged for labels such as Nouvel Sound, Ostgut Tom and Deconstruct. Vincent’s productions are full of the spiritual veneer of his native land merged with focused, technical and sophisticated angles, which are engineered to work well on any dancefloor. One of the first muscle-flexes from the Middle Abbey Street venue’s new operators, Shine, comes in the shape of this three-room helping of Saturday night fever. You’ve got pop, hip-hop beats and oddballs in the main room, house and 1990s tuneage in the Green Room, and rock, indie and metal in the basement. In addition to three rooms of booming tunes, there’s also all the sideshows and eye-candy necessary for a night out. And, in a nod to the venue’s old rig-out as Spirit, there are even “contortionists” and “freak shows”.
