Pitched as “a gig with a difference”, TrócaireLive will see Nigerian folk drummers welcome attendees to the Grand Social on Saturday, April 28th, where they’ll be treated to sounds by a host of Irish and African musicians while nibbling on some Middle Eastern snacks. Now That’s What I Call Multi-Cultural.
The gig itself, which aims to highlight Trócaire's fundraising campaigns, will be MC'd by Today FM DJ/Undertones frontman Paul McLoone, and will feature sets by Irish acts Katie Kim, Fred, The Hot Sprockets and Daniel Scannell. Joining them will be Ugandan Dembe Troupe dancers, Nigerian drumming duo Talking Drums, and Filipino band Manila Rhythm. A chilled-out set by DJ collective Groovement Soul will round off the night.
Tickets are €10 and available from entertainment.ie in advance, or on a first-come, first-served basis on the door. "This truly promises to be a gig with a difference," said Joanne McGarry of Trócaire.
