A private collection of 18th century oak and 19th century French furniture is expected to attract keen interest at Adams of Blackrock's sale next Tuesday.
The furniture is from a house in Co Kildare, and its owner has been a collector for over 20 years. Notable lots include a Georgian, oak gate leg table (estimate, £1,000-£1,200), an 18th century oak chest of drawers (£800-£1,200) and an 18th century oak bureau bookcase (£1,000-£1,200).
A 19th century giltwood suite is estimated at £2,000, a pair of 19th century satinwood serpentine commodes could fetch up to £4,000 and a Victorian burr walnut, kidney shaped lady's writing desk has a top estimate of £4,500.
An Irish Georgian mahogany breakfront bookcase was the top selling lot at Town & Country's clearance sale at the Grey Door Restaurant last Sunday. It made £6,000.
Also in the sale, an Irish Victorian mahogany dining table made £3,800; a gilt framed portrait of a lady with a ewer sold for £1,500; a set of 12 late Victorian dining chairs made £1,300; a George III mahogany lowboy fetched £1,000; and a mahogany linen press sold for £970. Four pairs of curtains and pelmets sold for a strong price of £1,800.
