A competition for media scope readers offers a whole Transition Year class the opportunity to attend, free of charge, one of the screenings of Edward Scissorhands organised by the education department of the Film Institute of Ireland, in association with The Irish Times.

All students have to do is write a review of a film, any film - in not more than 300 words; check Friday's Irish Times if you want to know what sort of things a review might include, but be sure to reflect your own interests and concerns too. Send your reviews to media scope, Newspaper in the Classroom, The Irish Times, D'Olier Street, Dublin 2.

The three best reviews will be published in media scope later this term. The three authors will all get a week's work placement in The Irish Times - provided they are Transition Year students - and their whole class will be able to attend the screening of Edward Scissorhands on October 22nd, 11 a.m., at the Orchard Cinema, Stillorgan, Dublin (see below). Transport is not provided.
