A 19TH century ormolu eased carriage clock with Sevres panels doubled its top estimate to sell for £6,000 at Wednesday's fine art auction at the James Adam salesroom in Dublin. A 19th century mahogany longcase clock with brass dial, marked Sanderson of Dublin, was expected to fetch £1,500-£1,700 but made £4,000.

Just as impressive, a Belleek porcelain shaped oval Rathmore basket (estimate £600-£800) went for £2,700, while a pair of Victorian gilded plaster and gesso triple archtop wall brackets (estimate £1,000-£1,500) fetched £2,600.

Other prices at this auction included: £2,300 for a composed George III mahogany bureau bookcase, £2,200 for a late 19th century Meissen model of a Bolognese spaniel; £2,100 for both an Irish 18th century oval glass studded wall mirror and a set of 23 lithograph views of Cork harbour and £1,800 for a George III inlaid mahogany semi elliptical side table.
