A man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault on a man in his 50s in Clane, Co Kildare on Saturday.
At about 11.20am, the man was seriously assaulted by two men at a residence in The Avenue area of Abbeylands, who later fled the scene on foot.
The injured man is being treated at Tallaght University Hospital, gardaí said on Sunday.
The arrested man is being held at Naas Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí said investigations are continuing and have appealed for any witnesses to the incident or for any person with information to contact Naas Garda station on 045-884300, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-66611.
Gardaí are also appealing for any road users, that were in the Avenue area of Abbeylands area between 11am and 11.30am and may have camera footage, to come forward.
