Women are seriously under-represented in engineering courses in Irish third-level colleges, the National Council for Educational Awards has warned. Only 15 per cent of engineering students in higher education are female, and this gender imbalance needed to be urgently addressed, Mr Denis McGrath, NCEA assistant registrar, said at the inception of a promotional package aimed at 13 to 16 year olds in Dublin yesterday.
