The AuroraMax project streams live images of aurora borealis, or the Northern Lights, from an observatory in the Canadian town of Yellowknife. With the tagline “Science is beautiful”, the live feed can be hit-and-miss, but the gallery of videos from nights of extreme activity are genuinely awe-inspiring.

Davy’s stock market app for the iPhone

Stockbroking and financial advisory firm Davy has released the first Irish-specific stock marker app for the iPhone. Available free of charge through the App Store (simply search for “Davy”), it provides access to research notes from Davy’s analysts as well as the latest market prices and indices. As well as information on the Irish Stock Exchange, it covers the British and US markets in addition to foreign exchange rates for major currencies.
