Scottish Provident members have overwhelmingly voted for the demutualisation and transfer of the business to Abbey National. The vote clears the way for what is expected to be a £1.6 billion sterling windfall payments for members. All qualifying members will get £500 in compensation and the majority are entitled to an average of £3,400. The payments are expected at the beginning of 2002.
