Revenue and operating profit rose at listed ferry operator Irish Continental Group as freight grew strongly and passenger numbers increased.
Roll on roll off freight volumes rose almost 12 per cent and lift on lift off freight was up by more than 10 per cent over the year.
The company said an improving economic outlook in Ireland had led to the decision to invest in the charter of an additional vessel, the Epsilon.
“2013 was a successful year for the group with a solid financial and operational performance in a competitive passenger and freight market place,” ICG chairman John McGuckian said.
More than 1.56 million passengers travelled with ICG in 2013, a 1.6 per cent increase year on year. Car numbers fell 0.8 per cent to almost 351,000.
