THE Margin was glad to see that the computers at the ESRI were working flat out on its recent fine report on Ireland and EMU. Those who like some advanced mathematics and a few crunched complex economic equations - known as econometrics - will not be disappointed at the detail of the report. The Margin's own favourite calculation is grandly titled the "Augmented Dickey-Fuller Unit Root Test" which is, of course, streets ahead of the unaugmented one.
