Tech Tools: Dyson Pure Cool Link turns air purifiers smart

Fan cools down your room as its sensors measure the air quality

We’re all aware of the pollution that can lurk in the air outside our homes, but have you ever wondered what’s lurking inside? From cooking and cleaning to burning candles and even tracking pollen and other allergens, there’s a lot floating around in the air.

But as you might suspect, there’s an app – and a connected appliance – for that. It is the Dyson Pure Cool Link.

Not only does the fan cool down your room – something, let’s face it, we don’t have that much call for in Ireland – but its sensors will also measure the air quality in the room, feeding the data to the app and allowing you to keep a close eye on things. A night-time mode allows it to work while keeping the noise down. The Dyson Pure Cool Link will set you back £350 (€440) for the desk fan and £450 (€565) for the tower, so it’s not a cheap fix.
