WATER PEBBLE €10

With the prospect of water charges looming, conserving water could become a hot topic again. The Water Pebble will give you a gentle push in the right direction. The device monitors the flow of water down the plughole as you shower. It is positioned near the plug hole and the indicators will let you know when you’re approaching the end of your shower time. Green means start, and by the time it flicks through amber and then red, your shower should be done.

It will also gradually reduce the amount of time you spend in the shower, using your first shower with it as a benchmark. Over time, it cuts a few seconds off, so you’re saving water without even realising.

APPLE iPOD TOUCH

From €229

The new iPod Touch takes inspiration from the iPhone 4, slimming down in size and beefing up the technology.

Apple has chosen to include the Retina display that has proven such a hit with iPhone 4 users, making the iPod Touch even better for watching videos and viewing photographs.

It has also built-in two cameras, including a front facing camera that will allow you to conduct FaceTime conversations over Wifi. All you need is an Apple ID and potential video chatters can find you.

The camera has the HDR image capability that the iPhone has, but the camera doesn’t seem to be quite at the same standard in the Touch. With the updated software, you also get GameCentre on the Touch, so you can challenge friends over a Wifi connection.
