Shares in Norwegian oil and gas major Statoil closed unchanged in their market debut yesterday in Oslo as investors gave a muted response to Norway's biggest privatisation to date.

In New York, Statoil shares traded mostly unchanged from the pricing of $7.47 (€8.67) a share on the New York Stock Exchange. The shares were up 1 cent at $7.48 near midday.
