The Jefferson Smurfit Group has announced the disposal of a Mexican subsidiary's plastics division in an $8.4 million deal. The company stated that the sale was in line with its policy of focusing on its core paper and packaging business. Smurfit Cartony Papel de Mexico will use the proceeds to finance its capital expenditure programme.
