CONSTRUCTION materials group Redland yesterday blamed the "appalling" winter weather for a 42 per cent slump in interim profits. The company made a pre-tax profit of £95 million sterling in the six months to June 30th, compared with £165.2 million for the first half of 1995. The profit figure was slightly better than the worst analysts forecast of £86 million.
