The Companies Registration Office has successfully prosecuted 33 directors for the failure of their companies to file annual returns in 1999. The prosecutions on November 28th, announced yesterday, were the first for some time but prosecution will become the norm, according to the office. Fines exceeding £17,000 were imposed. The average was £350 per director and £1,000 for directors who failed to turn up for court.
