MEN AND women over 60 are recognised as being senior citizens or old-age pensioners (OAPs) and enjoy a variety of discounts and privileges, including the following ...

• At the National Concert Hall in Dublin, senior citizens can pay a concession rate of €9 to €31.50 for the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra season.

• Old-age pensioners can get into Dublin Zoo for €12 instead of the normal price of €14.50.

• The Abbey Theatre offers special concession tickets (€15, €18, €20, €25) to senior citizens for performances

• Monday - Friday and Saturday matinee only.

• Woodies DIY gives a 10 per cent discount to over 60s on Thursdays.

• Senior citizens aged 65 and over can receive a discount for a 10-week course of €25 and for courses over 10 weeks of €50 for adult education courses at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dún Laoghaire, Dublin.

• At Specsavers, the over 60s can get 25 per cent off glasses from the €99 range or above, Monday - Friday.
