Highland licence renewed

The BAI will now enter into contract negotiations with Highland to fine tune the licence agreement

Highland Radio's licence for the north Donegal region has been renewed by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI).

The lengthy process included a public hearing with pitches from MD Shaun Doherty, managing director of Highland, and from Charlie Collins, who headed up the newly-formed DLFM consortium also pitching for the licence.

The rivalry was made even more intense as Collins stepped down in June last year from Highland where he had been general manager for more than two decades.

The BAI will now enter into contract negotiations with Highland to fine tune the licence agreement.
