FBD sponsors Marian Finucane show in €200,000 deal

New deal with insurance group includes sponsor stings and cross-station promotions

FBD Insurance will be the new sponsor of The Marian Finucane Show on RTÉ Radio from next weekend.

The show, which is broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays, has been without a sponsor since the Sunday Business Post's association with the programme expired last year. The deal includes eight sponsor-credited stings per week, cross-station on-air promotions, as well as podcast and homepage sponsorship.

While RTÉ Media Sales declined to reveal the value of the 12-month deal, market sources put it at around €200,000.

Along with RTÉ's Liveline, the 11am-1pm weekend programme is the joint second most listened to radio show in Ireland behind RTÉ's Morning Ireland.

It attracts a listenership of 381,000 on Saturdays, when it typically features a high-profile interview followed by a review of the week, and 332,000 on Sundays, when its format includes a newspaper review and panel discussion.

"With such a large number of listeners The Marian Finucane Show will deliver a highly effective platform for FBD Insurance to communicate directly with its customers," Tara Farrell, RTÉ's sponsorship manager, said.

FBD chief executive Fiona Muldoon said: "FBD believes it is well matched with The Marian Finucane Show.

"As we start our 50th anniversary year and as Ireland's only indigenous motor and home insurer, FBD Insurance is an Irish institution. We are now partnering with another great Irish institution on The Marian Finucane Show," she said.
