India said on Tuesday it had banned imports of CD-ROM versions of the Encyclopaedia Britannica because censors were unable to correct or blacken out maps and text relating to the disputed territory of Kashmir.

"The non-permission to import the said Encyclopaedia Britannica in CD-ROM is on account of inability to insert the required corrections/blackening at this stage," the government said.
