The supply of new housing will be reduced by the introduction of the Planning and Development Act 2000, Mr Francis Rhatigan, chairman of the Irish Home Builders' Association, said yesterday. Since the Bill was published in August 1999, a two-year lifetime on planning permission for residential development was introduced as an interim measure, according to the IHBA. The result has been a marked reduction in schemes or 100 or more units, it said.
