Hampden has announced the closure of eight in-store kitchen studios in the North, leading to 30 job losses and a £500,000 exceptional charge in its accounts. It said that sales of kitchen products in the first half of this year were down 40 per cent on the same period last year. This followed a 20 per cent sales decline last year compared to 1997.
