Bank of Ireland’s technology systems crashed for two hours yesterday afternoon, affecting its branch network, ATMs and online services.

This would have affected up to 1.1 million customers of the bank in Ireland.

A spokeswoman for the bank said: “We had a temporary technology systems outage and we would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience this caused.

“We would like to assure our customers that our systems are back up and running as normal.”
