The European Commission has begun an extended four-month anti-trust probe into the proposed merger of US telecommunications giants MCI WorldCom and Sprint. MCI WorldCom and Sprint say that changes in the Internet market since July 1998 make the arguments the Commission used in its assessment of the MCI/WorldCom merger invalid.
