Irish pharmaceuticals firm Elan has appointed Mr Thomas Lynch as its executive vicechairman. Mr Lynch joined Elan as executive vice-president and chief financial officer in May 1993 and was appointed to its board of directors in 1998.

In his new role, he will work directly with Elan chairman and chief executive Mr Donal Geaney on the long-term strategic development of the company.
