Shopping Centres : As part of a major expansion, Dunnes Stores is to open a large store at a new shopping centre in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

The centre will adjoin the highly successful Letterkenny Retail Park which has an impressive list of tenants including Next, New Look, TK Maxx, Elverys and Argos.

Dunnes is understood to have acquired virtually a freehold interest in the 7,897sq m (85,003sq ft) store. Other new Dunnes outlets in the pipeline include Citywest, Manor Mills in Maynooth, Jetland in Limerick, Navan, Ongar Village in Clonsilla and Donegal Town Centre.

The Letterkenny centre will have 21,222sq m (228,431sq ft) of retail space to accommodate 18 units and almost 700 car-parking spaces. The latest venture will greatly strengthen the town's appeal to shoppers over a wide region.

Letterkenny is one of the fastest growing urban centres in the north-west and clearly benefits from considerable cross-border trade.
