'Call Centre Charter' drawn up by union

The Irish Bank Officials Association has launched "an educational and campaigning body" for call centre employees.

At a weekend meeting in Dublin a Call Centre Charter was drawn up calling for the implementation of minimum standards in financial call centres on pay and conditions, health and safety, ergonomics, working hours and career progression.

The charter will be formally launched at the IBOA biennial conference in October.

The IBOA has over 500 members employed in 10 call centres in Ireland.
