On Tuesday, RTE 1, 8 p.m., the station launches Tech TV, the first in a 13-part series on technology and communications in Ireland. It is presented by John Collins and Keelin Shanley and its central theme is the way technology is changing how we live and work, but it will also cover other technology-related topics.

On Monday, RTE 1, 8 p.m. the True Lives series features a couple who returned to Ireland with a dream of owning a champion greyhound. The Gamble follows their efforts as they start from scratch with a breeding pair through to the glory of having a finalist in the Oaks at Shelbourne Park, Dublin.

Ear to the Ground returns on Tuesday, RTE 1, 8.30 p.m. with its focus on things rural and agricultural. It includes an item on Ireland's largest pig factory, the Lovell and Christmas plant in Ballymoney, Co Antrim which was destroyed by fire in June and which will not re-open, leaving Northern pig farmers without a market for 17,500 pigs a week.

On Monday, Fraud Squad, BBC 1, 9.30 p.m. is a fly-on-the-wall series following Birmingham trading standards officers as they tackle consumer-related crime. Their job includes tracking down the man behind a sex shop and investigating pestles and mortars which are being imported into Britain with 250 times the legal amount of lead in the paintwork. The second programme is on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

The Estate Agents is yet another fly-on-the-wall series on Thursday, UTV, 8.30 p.m. It focuses on a small estate agency run by a husband-and-wife team in Bristol. And at 9 p.m. on the same channel Office Affairs, a one-off documentary, looks at the phenomenon of romance in the workplace. Some three-quarters of the workforce in Britain have begun romances with work colleagues and the figure is rising. Includes "frank" interviews.
