Arthur Andersen appoints Brennan head actuary

Arthur Andersen has appointed Ms Joyce Brennan head actuary in the company's pensions and actuarial consultancy which is part of its specialist employee benefits division, Human Capital Services. Ms Joyce previously worked as a consultant actuary with Mercer Ltd.

The British Land Company has appointed Mr Robert Swannell non-executive director with immediate effect. Mr Swannell is vice-chairman of J Henry Schroder & Co.

Mr Michael Maloney has been appointed managing director of Gateway Ireland, the personal computer manufacturers. He takes on the role in addition to his current position as director, Consumer for Gateway Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Mr Gary Patterson has been appointed sales director with Interact, the Web development and strategy company. He worked previously in the steel industry section of Fletcher Challenge and was also a trader with British Steel London.

Gannon & Liddy, the Dublinbased solicitors firm, has announced the appointment of Ms Gemma Coady and Mr Conor O'Shaughnessy as associates. Ms Coady will be responsible for training and development and Mr O'Shaughnessy will be responsible for the continued development of the Family Law and Labour Law departments.

Tesco Ireland has appointed Mr Martin Keohane manager of Quinnsworth, Merrion, where a £5 million refurbishment is currently under way. The store will be relaunched as Tesco Ireland in November.

Barlo Group has announced the appointment to its board of Mr Brian Beausang as corporate development director with special responsibility for the group's acquisition and disposal activities. Mr Beausang joined the group in 1992, and has held senior financial and managerial positions across the group.

National Toll Roads has appointed Mr Jim Barry assistant chief executive of the group. A graduate of the Harvard Business School, Mr Barry previously worked with Morgan Stanley Dean Whitter, the investment bank group, and Bain & Co, international business strategy consultants.
