Given the prominence of offshore locations in the Ansbacher affair, it is intriguing to watch the latest initiative by Jersey to defend its image.

"It is not the island that has made itself more and more attractive," says a submission to an OECD review of offshore finance centres.

"It's the relatively high tax structures of the main industrial countries that have made them relatively unattractive."
