Data journalism weekend in Dublin for students, journalists and designers

Winning team will feature on Irishtimes.com website and win a Qualtrics licence

Students and professionals have been invited to a data journalism weekend next month, where teams of students, journalists, graphic designers and web developers will collaborate.

The event is sponsored by The Irish Times, US software firm Qualtrics and Getbulb, a start-up providing data visualisation software and winner of The Irish Times Digital Challenge in 2012.

The event will be hosted at Qualtrics’s European headquarters in Dublin on the weekend of December 5th and 6th next.

Competitors can submit teams of between five and seven people, or they can enter individually and be paired in a team with other skill sets.

For the challenge, Qualtrics will provide new data based on a survey of 5,000 people across 10 countries in Europe on their attitudes to work.

The winning team will feature on Irishtimes.com website and win a Qualtrics licence to conduct research into consumer behaviour. The Utah-based company opened its Dublin office in 2013.

It helps businesses collect data quickly and use it to test ideas, understand market feedback, and measure customer satisfaction. People can register to take part at Eventbrite.com.
