If ever a person has the ability to rise to the big occasion it is Niamh Whelan of Kilrush. Last Sunday she won the Captain's Prize for the third time in four years when she returned a net 62 off a 23 handicap. Niamh only took the game up in recent years, but she won Joan O'Malley's Captain's Prize in 1997 playing off 36. Then in 1998 she made it back-to-back win when she won Ann Duggan's Prize off 27.
