Although it is still early in the year, Carlow senior hurling manager Michael Walsh has became the second casualty of the new hurling season.

With Derry's Dominic McKinley having opted out as hurling manager earlier in the week, the former Kilkenny All-Star goalkeeper has tendered his resignation to the Carlow County Board.

The board has acted immediately to put former minor hurling manager Eoin Garvey in charge for the remainder of the season.
