Gorey Cs, the minnows from Wexford, must have fancied their chances against the strength of former section B school Templeogue when they led 8-0 with a minute to go in the first half. But their hopes caved in when Templeogue's Darragh Reynolds dashed over from a quickly taken penalty.

Thereafter the match belonged to Templeogue. Though Gorey fought on bravely, the inevitable tries followed. Captain Alan Coghlan dived in under the posts, prop Oran Morris charged over from five metres out and finally Bobbie Murphy crossed. Reynolds converted just one of these four attempts.
