MEN'S HOCKEY:THREE ROCK Rovers opened the defence of their National Indoor Trophy title with two wins out of two in Loughlinstown over the weekend.

Garry Ringwood scored a hat-trick in Saturday’s 6-0 defeat of Weston and got another in yesterday’s 2-1 win over Pembroke Wanderers.

Glenanne also came through the initial phase of the tournament unbeaten, picking up wins over Fingal and Weston, having drawn 4-4 with Corinthian in their opening game.

In Group Two, Clontarf are on maximum points after their three games, followed in the table by one of the teams they beat, YMCA, who are on six.

The second round of the regional stage of the tournament will be played on January 7th and 8th, with the finals schedule for the following weekend.

In the women’s indoor tournament, Old Alexandra top Group One, followed by Railway, while in Group Two Glenanne and Hermes both took nine points from their three games.
